A joint approach

Hip, knee and now ankle replacements are on the increase, in fact there have been more than 1.3 million joint replacement operations in the UK since 2003, bringing relief from pain and increased mobility for patients.

Many people in line for joint replacements want to know more – the types of procedure and surgery, performance, risks, benefits and all the variables that can affect the outcome. That’s where the National Joint Registry comes in. The NJR has launched the second edition of its summary Public and Patient Guide to the Annual Report, designed by Pad.

In just 44 pages, it gives just the right level of detail and the new graphics make the statistics easier to understand. Alison Steward, Pad’s director of Creative Services, is delighted. She said: “The NJR does such valuable work and we are really proud to have helped them produce this document. It’s already had some great feedback, too. One member of the NJR Patient Network said: ‘I love the design, really striking and presents the information in an accessible way’. That’s so rewarding for us.”
